Patient Statements & Help Desk
Statements a person can read, and a support line a person actually answers.
Patients do not dispute bills they understand.
What breaks here
Patient balances are now a meaningful share of practice revenue, and they are collected with tools designed for a time when they were not. A statement that lists a CPT code and a balance, with no explanation of what insurance paid or why, does not get paid. It gets called about — usually to your front desk.
Then it ages. Ninety days, one hundred and twenty, and eventually it is written off or handed to collections, which costs money and costs goodwill with a patient you spent years earning.
What we do about it
Statements explain what was billed, what insurance paid, what it did not pay and why, in plain language, with a balance and several ways to pay. Payment plans are offered before an account ages rather than after it has already gone quiet.
Patients who call reach our support line, not your front desk and not a menu tree. Where a balance is genuinely wrong, we fix it rather than defending it, because a disputed balance that is correct still does not pay itself.
Ask any billing company this
“Can I see a sample statement before we sign?”
Ask for the actual artifact. It takes ten seconds to evaluate and tells you most of what you need to know.
